Turn It In Website & Essay Information

All students must turn in major essays to Turnitin.com to avoid plagerism errors. Students need to login using their password and login information, then join my class, and finally submit all written essays. This must be done to receive credit for all major essays. Students who do not turn in their essays to the website will be unable to receive credit for the assignment.

Students must also turn in a hard copy of their essay including evidence of the writing process. Once graded, the essay will go into their writing portfolio to be reviewed at the end of the year. The students will document growth and change of the course of the class. Students Writing portfolios will then be sent home at the end of the year in accordance with protocals provided by the administration.

Standard Mastery:
All students are REQUIRED to Meet or Exceed the Standard once submitting an essay. If a student does not Meet the Standard in a major essay, that student will have to revise, edit, and resubmit their essay in order to Meet Georgia's CCGPS Standards.

You can tell if your child has Met, Exceeded, or Did Not Meet the standard based on the following chatacteristics:
  1. Green Dot (on front of essay) + Grade of  90 or above  = Exceed the Standard*
  2. Yellow Dot (on front of essay) + Grade of  70 of above = Met the Standard **
  3. Blue Dot (on front of essay) + Grade below 70 = Did not Meet The Standard***
* In order for a child to Exceed the Standard, the child must go "far and beyound"ordinary classroom learning. The student must demonstrate standard mastery as well as provide evidence of knowledge and skill that extends beyound what was learned in the classroom.

**Students with yellow dots will be given the OPTION to redo their essay.

***Any students that falls below the standard is REQUIRED to resubmit their essay to meet the standard.
